90's Popstar Trivia... Part 2

February 17, 2018

How much do you really know about famous pop icons of the 90's? We've compiled a list of some our our favourite facts. Keep an eye out for part two coming soon...!

  • The Spice Girls is possibly the most iconic girl-group ever. Don’t agree? Well, what other girl groups have been called “heros” by Nelson Mandela? And while we all know them as Sporty, Scary, Ginger, Posh and Baby, the members didn’t choose their own nicknames. Top of the Pops magazine made up those nicknames and they just stuck! We all know that Posh Spice went on to marry David Beckham and become the style icon we all know today, Victoria Beckham, but can anyone remember her maiden name… Victoria Adams.

  • Wet Wet Wet hail from Glasgow, originally being formed in Clydebank High School with frontman Marti Pellow’s real name actually being Mark McLachlan. Nelson Mandela must have really been into his 90s pop, since Wet Wet Wet performed at his 70th birthday celebration. The band are tied with Sir Elton John for the most combined weeks at number 1 in the UK singles charts.

  • The music video for Britney Spears’ (or Britney Jean Spears to use her full name) Hit Me Baby One More Time was shot in the same high school where Grease was filmed. She was also the highest paid celebrity judge in history, earning $15 million to judge X Factor US.

  • The Backstreet Boys opening performance was at Sea World, opening for Shamu the whale! AJ McLean used to live in the same building as Ryan Gosling, Justin Timberlake and Britney Spears way back in 1992… I think there must have been something in the water which made them a success!
